A graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University, Evan Weinstein has built an impressive career in ad operations in the dynamic and ever-expanding field of streaming, working under the Disney umbrella. In joining the Dyson Advisory Board, Weinstein follows in the footsteps of his father, longtime board member David Weinstein ’82 ’91, Social Science, MBA.
What led you to your current career?
Funny enough, I fell into it. I was trying to get my foot in the door in the radio industry and they had an opening in their ad trafficking department. Not knowing what it entailed, I accepted the role and have been doing ad operations since I graduated college in 2014.
What are you most proud of in your career so far?
I was on the team that launched Disney+ in the US and across the world. Everything marketing related on one of the biggest streaming services is one of my proudest accomplishments.
What are your goals for the future?
Now that I am leading a new team at ESPN, my latest goal is to do what I did with the Disney+ launch except for the new flagship product we’re hoping to launch soon.
What has led you to want to be part of the Dyson Advisory Board?
My family has a long-standing history with Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ and specifically Dyson College. Being able to help guide future students in their careers was a major reason I wanted to become more involved with the board.
What advice do you have for current Dyson students?
If you have an interest in something, do the research and be informed. You sound much more appealing if you’ve taken the time to understand a business you’d like to one day go into.
What is your favorite way to spend your free time?
I’m a big fan of making new playlists on Spotify. Also, I play pool and drink bourbon when the time is right!
Do you have any book recommendations?
I do love reading detective novels like the stories of Agatha Christie. A few of her stories have become feature films and that helped rope me into the genre.
Favorite TV show?
Scrubs…no contest.
Favorite restaurant in New York/Westchester?
It’s a very tough call. You can’t go wrong with Jackson Hole for a burger!
