Biography

Emeritus Professor Janet A. Johnson served as dean of Elisabeth Haub School Law from 1983 to 1989. Immediately prior to assuming the deanship, she served as Associate Judge of the Iowa Court of Appeals from 1978-1983. She previously served as a member of the tenured faculty at Drake University Law School and spent several years in private practice.

In 1982, Professor Johnson served as staff counsel to the Iowa Crime Commission in 1972. While at Haub Law, Professor Johnson was a referee for the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct, a member of the Ninth Judicial District Committee to Promote Gender Fairness in the Courts, and a member of the Westchester County Local Conditional Release Commission. She also was the director of academic programs for the Pace Women’s Justice Center. She retired from the full-time faculty in 2011.
