Research and Creative Works

Research Interest

I am interested in the neurogenic underpinnings of language and speech disability. My research has included speech science and outcomes research in the area of aphasia, dementia and other related disorders. The early biomarkers for dementia may include speech signal variation that I am interested in pursuing in my motor speech work. In addition, I have interest in the quality of life of patients who are living longer with communication disability and require research-driven models of intervention at chronic stages. My recent book focuses on the changes that take place in speech, hearing, swallowing and language across the lifespan.
