Biography

Adjunct Professor Morghan Leia Richardson is a divorce attorney, consultant and mediator in New York City. She is Co-chair of the Matrimonial and Family Law Department at Tarter Krinsky & Drogin LLP in Manhattan.

Experienced in litigation and family law issues that accompany divorce, Prof. Richardson is a resource on issues like custody, child support, father's rights and marital property, including asset discovery and protection. She has fought complex divorce cases with clients that include a Nobel-Prize winning economist, a prominent music magazine editor, and one of the spouses on the hit television show the Real Housewives of New York. She was named a Super Lawyer in 2020 onwards, and as a New York Rising Star by Super Lawyers in 2013 onwards (Top lawyers under 40), and participates on the executive committee for the New York State Bar Association's Section for Women in the Law. Prof. Richardson also serves as a mediator for the matrimonial panels in the Supreme Courts for the counties of New York, Kings and Nassau.

Before working in family law, Prof. Richardson worked at Chadbourne & Park LLP in Manhattan, and Hollingsworth LLP in Washington, D.C., handling corporate litigation and toxic torts in state and federal courts. In 2007, she was presented with the president's citation award from the Maryland Bar Foundation for her pro bono work.

During law school, Prof. Richardson worked as an extern for Federal Magistrate Judge Louis Moore in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, and served as a Managing Editor for the Tulane Maritime Law Journal. Prior to law school, she worked as a news reporter in Texas and Florida, and was the recipient of a journalism award from the Texas Associated Press Managing Editors for investigative journalism.
