Biography

Professor Hechtman practices in the area of family law, handling matters involving divorce, child custody, pre- and post-nuptial agreements, family offense proceedings and grandparent rights, as well as representing individuals utilizing assisted reproductive technologies. Professor Hechtman is an experienced mediator who sits on several court mediation panels and is also a trained collaborative attorney and certified parenting coordinator.

Before practicing exclusively in the area of family law, Professor Hechtman worked as a civil rights lawyer litigating class action cases on behalf of children in foster care and served as a prosecutor with the New York County District Attorney’s Office where she was a member of its domestic violence and sex crimes units.
