Welcome to the Department of Information Technology. The department offers majors and minors in the areas of information technology and information systems at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
The department offers a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BS/IT) program, a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems (BS/IS) program, and a Master of Science in Information Systems (MS/IS) program. BS/IT enables students to select, create, and integrate computing technologies for individuals and organizations. In addition to hands-on classroom experience, you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your skills in an internship, and choose an area of focus to prepare you in launching your career after graduation. Areas of focus may include cybersecurity, web and digital media, networking, information management, data analytics, and software development.
Both MS/IS and BS/IS give students the ability to design, implement, and evaluate a computer-based system or process that are essential for corporate environment. The curriculum provides strong leadership, project management, data communication, data management and analytics, and health IS skills that set you apart to employers as a well-rounded candidate. Hence the programs provide a perfect blend of information systems and management.
In addition to academic programs, the department hosts a variety of co-curricular activities and opportunities for students. These opportunities include Women in Technology initiative, Design Factory, Smart Mobile App Development Bowl, CyberCorps scholarship, GenCyber summer programs, and Pace Cybersecurity Academic Partnership (PCAP) for Community Colleges.
