Our 4-hour research, 6-hour, and 20-hour research assignments allow students to practice their academic research skills while earning 4, 6, or 20 hours toward your au pair J1 visa education requirement. The number of hours stated on the certificate is based on the average number of hours needed to complete the requirements of the assignment.
You may register for the 4- or 6-hour research assignment at any time. The research topics provided by our Admissions team are not connected to a specific class. Topics include the education field, marketing, leadership, child development, social media, and more,
You may register for the 20-hour research assignment associated with your Career Skills Development Series course up to 5 days after the course ends. The 20-hour research assignment topic is connected to the topic of your Career Skills Development Series course. For this reason, 20-hour research assignments must be taken with a Career Skills Development Series course.
You will have up to 4 weeks to complete your research assignment (see research assignment policy). The due date for your specific assignment will be included in your confirmation message from our Admissions team. However, if you complete the essay early, we will provide a certificate of completion within 2-3 business days.
NOTE: Research assignments must be taken together with another in-person course. Students may register for a maximum of one 4-hour or one 6-hour research assignment. There is no limit on the number of 20-hour research assignments. This option is for students who have some experience writing an academic essay.
