"Professors here are very on point. They want you to be prepared when you come to class. I found that the faculty are very helpful. They always try to reach out to you, they're very approachable."

Student Life
The department sponsors a variety of clubs, honor societies, and professional organizations for students, offering valuable leadership and networking opportunities. The Student Managed Investment Portfolio course fosters knowledge of securities markets and provides students with real world decision-making challenges. Our Bloomberg Lab has a stock ticker and statistical and analytical software which is made available to students for research and professional certification.
Students manage a portfolio worth about $400,000 sponsored by the University. They conduct research on individual companies, use Bloomberg terminals and stock analysis packages, and create PowerPoint proposals to recommend purchases and sales. The class then votes to approve or reject the recommendation.
Our Bloomberg Lab and Barry and Jackie Gosin Active Learning Lab feature the same financial software that is used by industry professionals. Bloomberg terminals, real-time stock tickers, news feeds, and a videoconference system allow students to connect to Bloomberg for real-time lessons and instruction.

"My teammates and I analyzed the documents and created a presentation within 24 hours. The rush I felt from working late into the night and waking up early to present the case to the judges in the morning was unlike any other experience I've had as a student."
