Opportunities For Faculty And Staff

  • Wellbeing Mini-Grants - Each Fall the Center for wellbeing offers four mini-grants of up to $2,500 each that promote Paces priority of creating a culture of wellbeing and align with one or more of the 8 dimensions of wellness.
  • Wellness Ambassador Badge -Staff and faculty learn about the 8 dimensions of wellness and how to incorporate them into their own life through this self-guided, self-paced, interactive badge program they can put on their resumes and LinkedIn profiles. 
  • Wellness in Action Program - This is a month-long wellness program in October and February for staff/faculty. Participants work in small groups toward a personal wellness goal, attend enrichment sessions, and build community. 
  • Annual Wellbeing Fair - Every February, campus departments and community organizations on each of the three campuses offer engaging displays, demonstrations, activities, and dialogue to highlight the many aspects of wellbeing. 
  • Kindness Self-Discovery Assessment and Presentation -This one-hour interactive workshop empowers individuals and departments create and maintain a culture of kindness. Participants do a self-assessment and then receive a one-page overview of their top kindness strengths (respect, caring, inclusivity, integrity, responsibility and courage) along with a comprehensive toolkit including practical suggestions and resources to reinforce these concepts.
  • Kindness Committee- This Committee promotes a culture of kindness across the University via a variety of initiatives and activities with the 70+ student, faculty and staff committee members.

For a person to perform their bestin the office, on the field, or in the classroomone must pay special attention to their mental health and wellbeing. For me, tools such as meditating every morning, regular exercise, eating sensibly, and getting enough sleep are essential for peak performance. A healthy dose of optimism, gratitude, and meaningful friendships goes a long way as well.

    • General Mental Health Resources. List of mental health resources, as well as helpful 泫圖弝け resources, including tips on stress reduction, coping after a crisis, and suggested apps.
    • Just in Case. This one-stop resource provides potentially life-saving mental health information with vital information and support options, just in case you or a friend needs help.
    • New York City: The Thomas J. McShane Center for Psychological Services. This training clinic for Paces well-established psychology-training program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), works to remove barriers to care, by providing high-quality, evidence-based treatments at an affordable rate to meet the needs of all Pace community members. The Center provides individual and group therapy as well as assessment/testing services for adults, children, couples, and families.
    • 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Calling or texting 988 connects to mental health professionals who provide 24/7, confidential support to people in suicidal crisis or mental health-related distress.
    • FREE Mental Health First Aid course from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing trains faculty and staff to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. Courses are offered each month. Learn more and sign up today for the MHFA course.
    • Timely.com offers valuable resources for faculty and staff working directly with students:
    • New York City Referral Lists and Westchester Referral Lists. Paces Counseling Centers provide external resources for the following:
      • Alcohol and drug addiction

Environmental

Good health by occupying pleasant, stimulating environments that support well-being

    • Institute for Sustainability and the Environment. Committed to the protection of human and natural resources, there are organic gardens on the New York City and Pleasantville campuses. In Pleasantville, there is also a 50-acre forest, interpretive nature trail, and hiking trails.
    • New York City: . There is a garden open to the 泫圖弝け community on the corner of Spruce Street and Gold Street.
  • New York City

    • . Citibike offers bikes that are available for use to travel around NYC. This way students and staff can spend more time outdoors and in nature.
    • . City Hall Park, Battery Park, Central Park, Prospect Park, and more. These parks are located just a few blocks or a subway ride away from Pace and are open to the general public. Check the link to find a park for a walk, picnic, or to sit and enjoy the view.

    • Athletic Classes. Pace offers various live and remote athletic classes including yoga, Zumba, bootcamp, cardio classes, and more.
    • Food Pantries on Campus. Three nutritious meals a day is a human right. Visit the Pace Mobile Food Pantry(Pleasantville Campus) or the Provisions Food Pantry (New York City Campus) for a selection of fresh food to take with you. Both options are available to faculty and staff, regardless of full-time/part-time status. Any member of our community that is experiencing food insecurity is welcome.
    • Flu Shots. University Health Care has a supply of seasonal flu vaccines available. Schedule an appointment to receive the vaccine. Register and complete forms on the Patient Portal.

    • Preventive Care Incentive Program. This program is designed to encourage annual preventive care examinations. If you are enrolled in the University's medical plan, you are eligible to receive a cash payment (up to $240) for having certain qualified preventive examinations during the plan year, from January 1 through December 31.

Spirituality at 泫圖弝け is a broad concept that may or may not engage us in religious activities. Spiritual wellness represents ones personal beliefs, values, and a commitment to finding meaning, purpose, and a sense of balance and peace. It includes experiencing an openness to love and joy with a sense of gratitude and mindfulness. Spiritual wellness connects one to the moment, self, others, nature and the significant or sacred.
